Søg efter Zambia's næste supermodel returnerer

She holds 13 local beauty titles, four international crowns and a modeling agency of her own, but after losing her mother to cervical cancer two months ago, Zambia’s Cynthia Kanema has had to change her purpose of modeling.

Of course Cynthia quit the catwalk business over three years ago, but she might be earning twice her modeling income now as a beauty agent for not only Zambia but the entire continent. Her influence has equally tripled in the modeling industry and in Lusaka her annual TV series Search for Zambia’s super søgemodel which has made her more popular, returns in season two next week.

Unlike last year however where her models of substance as she calls them, entered a competition based on hudpleje skønhed, this year, contestants have a task to make an impact in the fight against cervical cancer.

Most women have fallen victim of cervical cancer because naturally, we don’t have the impulse to undergo routine cancer scanning.

I remember as little girls we were taught to look out for breast cancer by filling the lumps in the breast, but cervical cancer is mostly common in women who are over 40 years old who can hardly expect cancer infections, she said and womens wear simple dress.

Cynthia says the death of her mother who saw her through the 10-year-old modeling career was a turning point for her advocacy programmes. If detected in its earliest stage, cervical cancer can be prevented under a few minutes, but if delayed it poses a life long period of suffering and that is what people don’t know.

In season two of Search for Zambia’s supper søgemodel, the contestants will do a number of tasks in line with cervical cancer, it is the most common and life threatening cancer among woman in Zambia today, she said.

SEARCH FOR ZAMBIA'S SUPER MODEL
Talking about the competition, hundreds of contestants are expected to turn up at Lusaka's Southern Sun hotel for auditions this weekend.Cynthia, with season one grand prize winner Petita Mwanza is looking for 20 beauty queens who will compete in a weekly elimination series."Auditions are open to all Zambian girls between the ages of 16 and 27, the selection exercise will be on Saturday and Sunday, Cynthia told The Post On-line.

The search for Zambia's super model was the most popular hudpleje skønhed series last year and in season II, California beverages, My TV, Redds and Southern Sun Hotels have put resources together to make it even better.

Cynthia said for the first two weeks, the selected 20 models would undergo training in the gym as well as lessons on how to manage the subsequent weekly tasks."After that stage, we will be eliminating two models per week until we come up with that super model who will scoop the grand prize," she said.Season one super model Petita will be showcasing her skills with a Germany based Model Agency at a special contest to be held in February next year.

"This year other than just the money, we intend to send the winner to either France of China where the Elite Model Agency and 30 plus other agencies will be selecting and signing up models for the companies," she said.

On a light note, Cynthia took time to talk about her road to success in the modeling industry and if at all she may consider taking to the catwalk podium again.Emerging brand of luxury pret-a-porter womens wear in a range of high quality models tailored by skilled artisans.

NO! I am better off, what I am doing right now, said the former Miss Africa 2004, 2005, Miss Universe Africa’s finalist, Miss Malaika 2004 first princess, and HIV/AIDS, Tourism good will ambassador to Japan and Thailand. In Zambia, Cynthia holds a record 13 crowns including those she earned while at Copperbelt University, but she says no amount of money will put her back on her feet modeling.I am done using my legs to make a difference, now I have to use my head and I would rather be someone’s spokesperson, that is not to say I am too old because there are people who are older than me who are still modeling, said the 27-year-old.

Curry, now 27, was named the first winner of "ANTM" back in 2003. Since then, she has become a VH1 darling (just don't bring her name up to Tyra). She appeared in the fourth season of "The Surreal Life," where she met her future husband, "Brady Bunch" star Christopher Knight. Yaya DaCosta

DeCosta, now 26, seemed like a shoe-in to be winner of the third cycle of "ANTM."
She's beautiful, smart and an accomplished dancer. She lost the title to Eva Pigford, but went on to bigger and better things such as appearing on the daytime drama "All My Children" and on Broadway in "The First Breeze of Summer." Project Runway Finale Fashion Modeling

And so, my friends, it has come to this. As Boyz II Men sang so soulfully, we've come to the end of the road. Or, the runway, I guess. Which means we're about to fall off into the lap of the Malaysian Prime Minister, if Zoolander is to be believed. Put on your best vagina kjoler and grab a cocktail, y'all -- it's time to finish this bitch.

Previously on: Charming Southern belle Carol Hannah, icy New York princess Irina, and vapid Ohioan Althea made it to the final three, and are so drama-deficient that the primary story-lines going into the finale are that Althea "copies" Irina--which is obviously not even true -- and that Carol Hannah might vomit herself to death. Funny aside: I saw my mom last weekend, and she's all, "I turned on ProjRun this week and I couldn't tell what the hell was going on, so I turned it off. But that Carol Hannah, she doesn't look good. There's something wrong with her." I should make a companion to the ShitMyDadSays Twitter feed.

We're in New York, two days before Bryant Park. At the Grand Hyatt, Carol Hannah grooms herself while Althea and Irina sit in the kitchen waiting, I guess, for her to die so that they can get to the workroom already. "If I'm lying with my head in the toilet that's not really helpful," CH interviews. I bet Irina would beg to differ.fashion model photos, model photos, fashion models online galleri: fashion models portfolios, female and male fashion models. Fashion models photo gallery. She interviews that she feels for Carol Hannah (whose name she pronounces Carol Honna for some reason) but that "there's really nothing I can do to help her." Well, yeah, not if you sit drumming your fingers on the table. Someone go hold that girl's hair back, at least!

All three eventually make it to Parsons. Logan says that he's really proud of Carol Hannah for getting it together despite the immense pressure, and hugs her. Gordana interviews that Irina is under so much stress that "she's not 100% cool as she normally is." (Perhaps her cryogenic chamber is on the fritz?) Carol Hannah then suddenly starts to weep, cracking under the pressure of all the work that's left to be done, and Chris comforts her. He says that he's glad to be able to be there for her as a friend and a tailor, and reassures CH that he's there to help.Browse our fashion model online galleri to find and contact hot new runway models. We will provide you with each model's stats and pictures free of charge. For all of the bitching I've done about Chris, he was one of my early favorites and seems like a genuinely sweet person, which is good because the others all stand around woodenly. Althea tries to break the tension by suggesting that they all go get their hair and makeup consultations. If there are kind words exchanged between the three girls, the editors don't let us see it.

The hair and makeup consultations are predictably dull. They all tell Collier Strong from L'Oreal that they want the søgemodel to look "glamorous" and "soft and pretty." Let's mix it up! How about "I want them to look like a drunk Lady Gaga after a visit to the department store makeup counter where Joan Rivers and Miss Piggy worked in The Muppets Take Manhattan!" or "I'm thinking Edward Cullen with pinkeye." At the hair counter, Carol Hannah explains that her collection is inspired by Gothic architecture and the stylist nods politely.

Back in the workroom, the models come in for fittings. Carol Hannah is having an easy time matching her søgemodel to looks but Althea and Irina struggle a bit. Tim arrives to check in on their 13th looks. Irina's involves a military-looking hat with a chain chinstrap, and shockingly Tim does not respond by slapping her in the face. He asks about the makeup and Irina says that she is going for a "muddy" look.

Althea's final look is mae up of silk harem-esque pants, a top, and a leather jacket with Star Trekk-y shoulder pads. Tim worries a bit about the exaggerated shoulders. He then asks about her makeup (at the request of the producers, no doubt) and Althea says that it will be a bit messy. "That sounds like what Irina was telling me," Tim says, and ugh I am over this whole copying storyline. I guess Althea is, too, because she starts to cry. Tim checks in on Carol Hannah and asks how she's feeling. "Ok-ish," she tells him. Her final look is a pretty blue jersey kjoler--Tim approves.

It's now only one day until the big show. Once again we see Carol Hannah getting ready while the other girls wait. But this time, CH is on the mend. "I dont feel like I'm going to die!" she says cheerily. They arrive at the workroom, and Irina debates what look to put her unge skuespillerinde in. She finally settles on her 13th look, a black dress/tank combination that of course comes with a twee hat. Shirin lives! Later on, Tim comes in to remind us of what we already know, that they are going to Bryant Park and that this is a BIG DEAL. They all put finishing touches on their collections, fret over shoes and accessories, and worry that they're forgetting something. They leave. They sleep. And then it's D-Day.

An alarm clock goes off at 3:14 am. Apparently they have to start super early in order to get all of their unge skuespillerinde dressed, etc. Carol Hannah puts on a big, bright, one-shouldered blue thing that makes me wonder if she isn't still sick, and possibly hallucinating that she's an extra in the Pretty in Pink prom scene. They get ready to leave and then... Irina can't open the door. It's actually kind of funny, if you ignore the fact that this episode didn't really need to exist, and that they could have condensed the finale into one hour instead of making us watch these bitches not be able to open a door for five minutes.

At Bryant Park we get the obligatory scene in which the girls are overwhelmed by the empty runway and can't believe they've made it this far. I don't mean to be glib -- these women did work very hard and should be proud -- it's just that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the sweet, sweet light of 11 pm EST, and like Liz Lemon I WANT TO GO TO THERE.

Suddenly it's only moments before the runway show, and backstage is total chaos, with the designers crouching and pinning and fretting and Tim having a series of freak-outs because the models aren't in full dress. In all of the seasons of the show I've never seen Tim freak out this bad. He's pacing and his facial muscles are contorting in all sorts of horrible ways and his brow is so furrowed I'm afraid it might cave in and swallow his whole head. "I'm about to lose it!" he exclaims, and Carol Hannah interviews that it's unnerving for Tim to be so stressed out because he's usually their calm center.

Teen opfordrer andre til at bryde 'Beauty' Mold

Lynae Tucker loves the skin she's in.The Rapid City teenager knows her 5-foot-4-inch frame doesn't fit the beauty queen mold, but she's more than happy to break it.Tucker, already a seasoned pageant competitor at 17, stands out because she doesn't look like the willowy figures that typically commandeer the catwalk."Every once in a while, people will ask me, ‘Don't beauty queens have to be tall and skinny?'" she said. "It's OK not to be what everybody is expecting."This unexpected beauty queen took home national bragging rights last month when she was crowned Plus Teen USA.

The Texas-based pageant, which debuted in October, doesn't accept entries from any teen model who wears less than a size 12. Tucker, who wears a size 14 jean, wanted in the moment she learned of Plus Teen USA.The Stevens High School junior couldn't help but be intrigued by a pageant that encouraged plus-size teens to not only embrace, but to celebrate their size."I had never done anything like this," she said.

Tucker credits her faith and parents with giving her the confidence to compete against girls who are typically taller and thinner. But she wasn't about to pass up the "chance to compete against girls who have the same struggles as me." Plus-size model Jacqueline Lawrence understands the challenges of being a big woman in a skinny industry and Modelbureauer to become model. The Texas woman founded Plus Teen USA for girls whose size might otherwise preclude them from pageants and modeling.

Young women have bought the lie that the size of their jeans determines their self-worth, Lawrence said. Her pageant fights that falsehood by shining the spotlight on full-figured beauties. It's a safe place for girls ages 13 to 19 to showcase their style without comparing their bodies to skinnier versions of themselves.Lawrence, an author and Christian counselor, said she wants to wear plus size kjole and teens to see themselves as God sees them: priceless. She encourages her contestants to love themselves for who they are.

Her definition of beauty can't be found on the pages of galleri magazines or Web sites that dish out the latest Hollywood gossip. She deems Scripture the final authority on the subject."People focus on the outward appearance," she said. "That's what man does. God looks at the heart."Tucker knows her worth isn't tied up in her looks. She tries not to find her significance in how she appears, but who she is."God made you who you are," she said. "Accept who you are as being a miracle."

Tucker's title gives her a platform on which to share her message of loving oneself for who one is. She aims to address feelings of inadequacy that plague girls and women who struggle with body image."So many girls have eating disorders and self-mutilation problems," she said. "They don't know how they are going to get through the next day. It's linked to the way society views beauty in general."People who love and accept themselves take care of the one and only body God gave them, Lawrence said.Dance and teen model keep Tucker fit and her confidence high. A member of the Blues, Stevens High School's dance team, she rises early and stays after school for practice. When she's not dancing with her teammates, she receives additional instruction at Dance Elite in Summerset.

Tucker models and interns with Rapid City's Fierce Modeling School and Modelbureauer to make career. Her crowning didn't surprise Lynne Hix, who owns Fierce Modeling and has worked with Tucker for two years.Hix attributes Tucker's poise and confidence with wowing the judges."Lynae is incredibly mature for her age," she said.Plus Teen USA fills a niche in the pageant world for girls who seek scholarship opportunities, but feel intimidated by the size of their competition, Hix said.

Contestants compete in three categories: casual, business interview and evening gown.Donning a swimsuit and demonstrating a talent, both performed and submitted, is optional."By eliminating those two things, she opened it up to hundreds of girls," said Tucker, who submitted her modeling galleri and portfolio for the optional talent segment.Judges narrowed the field to five girls before asking finalists to describe their platform and why they chose it.Soon after, Tucker was announced the first Plus Teen USA. She took home a crown she gets to keep in addition to a $500 college scholarship, jewelry and other prizes. She'll have to wait until next year for the crown's two biggest perks. Footage of the pageant will air in February on the Style Network's "Ruby," a reality TV series that follows star Ruby Gettinger's journey to lose weight.Tucker also will appear on the summer issue cover of TiaraMagazine, which offers pageantry advice and information.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sudden attention and the responsibilities of her crown, she said."I'm representing every plus size kjole of teenager," she said. But her message isn't just for plus-size teens. Tucker hopes her words inspire classmates, friends, neighbors and strangers to love themselves for who they are and build each other up. "We all have something to overcome," she said.
